"Medium Mystic" Joel Fitzpatrick is a full-time New Yorker, artist and entrepreneur. After he majored in Sculpture and Lighting Design at Bennington College, went on to form his own lighting company, Double Happiness, clothing boutique Swell and fashion line Pleasure Swell. In 1995, The Council of Fashion Designers of America crowned Hush Puppies the Top Accessory of the year after Joel helped transform the then lifeless brand into a phenomenon. In 1996 Joel was nominated for the California Designer of the Year award. Soon after, Joel's forsight and success was referenced in the opening chapter of Malcolm Gladwell's first book The Tipping Point, which went on to sell almost 2 million copies.
